Battlestations: Pacific reviews ( 7 )
its cool ,more than just a first person shooter, you have to use your head, i like to use a joy stick and an N52 TE, once your set up it will keep you on the edge of your seat for hours much better than the recent cod crap ,but then again so is css and thats 8 years old now.
A very nice game with combination of strategy and role playing. The graphics are not bad either. I really enjoyed it and just wished there will be another installments in the series with bigger and more exciting features.
Graphics are a 10, including Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Physics, Weather, it all looks good. Single Player story is great, challenging, works well. The only thing I do not like the Multiplayer interface. Trying to find a server list is much like using a console, you can't see games in progress and when your match is over you are returned to multiplayer main menu, not the lobby of the game you just completed. So you have to find your friends all over again. Very annoying.
Definately an improvement on Battlestations Midway in several aspects, yet the two are different experiences. Pacific is more arcade than serious, as planes re-arm in the air rather than return to base. That Midway magic is gone, where you knew if you missed your torpedo then you had wasted a plane trip. If you want an easy to enjoy game, Pacific has the quality. If you want intense moments and punishing situations then stick with Midway. Keep in mind that this is very much like a console port, in terms of quality and depth.
While some people complain about lack of infantry, they need to realize that this is not about the individual soldiers, it's about the Planes and ship combat. However, it does still feel like too many pots boiling over, as gameinformer said about midway.
A very bad game. The only strategy in it is on the campaign map - and the action is no better. You cant play as infantry - and overall a very disappointing game- i thought it was going to be an exciting RTS and it turned out as a slow, boring, and uneventful battle full of boring ships and planes and no men whatsoever.
This is one of the MOST enjoyable World War 2 games on the Pacific campaign that I have ever seen! It gives you the opportunity to operate everything from Carriers to Battleships to Submarines to Fighter Planes and YOU are at the controls. whether in a battle fleets or squadrons or solo submarines, this game puts you in the middle of the action. Enjoy!
