Rome: Total War Alexander reviews ( 5 )

The graphics have been improved the campaign is actually a challenge unlike the standard RTW campaign which even on very hard/very hard is remarkably easy for anyone with basic knowledge of the game. Personally I feel critics gave it a bad rating just because it was too difficult for them? I dont see how difficulty is a factor in whether the game is good just because the critics don't know how to play the game right doesn't mean its a bad game. Bottom line, if your a Alexander the Great fan and/or a Total War junkie You'll want to give this a try.

Good title for the price asked of it. Adds a decent amount of content to the base game and provides a totally fresh experience with the new campaign. Unfortunately since there is pretty much only one way to go about the campaign, i highly doubt you will want to play through it again.

The worst part of this is the start of the campaign. You start with bad cities, low income, tons of enemies, and have to somehow manage to conquer the map in only 100 turns. It is overwhelming at first, and difficult even on easy, but once you get a few cities can be fun. It took me 66 turns on easy, though I used a guide to help with the start. Balance issues: Alexander is way too strong, pikes are too strong, archers are useless. The historical battles are fun and interesting, though also too hard. 20-30 hours of content, recommended if bundled or cheap.

Takes away the time i enjoyed in previous games building my cities and sorting out trade agreements and instead forces you into a rush to conquer provinces. Feels a lot more limited than RTW and i didn't enjoy it nearly as much.

This game is okay, 15 bucks is a bit much, but not to bad. Without any modifications to the game you can only play as Macadon, and you start with Sparta loosing tons of money. Also there are no politics so no aliences, trading, ect. One more thing, all of the battles are way to easy or extreamely hard.
