Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void reviews ( 7 )

They had pumped so much more story, cinematics and an amazing orchestral sound compilation for this 3rd (and hopefully not final) chapter in Starcraft 2. I am in love and awe with this game, it reminds me of the original butterflies of playing the first starcraft world. Thank you Blizzard in your care for this game, it was something us fans had been waiting for. My life for Aiur.

With a Revamped Multiplayer, One of the Best Campaigns in the series history, and promised continued support for the game post launch, I would call this game a must buy for anything even slightly interested in the RTS genre.

The single player campaign is very good, lots of variety and how a mission is done. Blizzard is the grandmaster when it comes to how to make single player RTS seem fresh and unique even though it is a RTS. Cinematics is top rate on their cut-scenes as well. But we know what is going to keep players playing this for a long time is the multiplayer and boy has blizzard revamped the multiplayer options like the new co-op missions, archon mod and the daily tournaments every 2 hours or so. I was very impressed they made it a point to update the multiplayer aspect of the game because it was getting stale by the end of Heart of the Storm. I give it a 10 because basically the culmination of years and years of testing that finally blizzard nailed it on the head the multiplayer aspect of game. The single player is worth the admission itself but the multiplayer is worth a lot more then what the price tag is because you will be playing this game for a very long time and that is what is going to give SC2 the longevity that some games lack.

I didn’t finish the game yet, only 5 missions, but since finishing the game will take me another month or two with my playtime, I want to state my opinion. This is another Blizzard masterpirce, almost perfect and very well polished game. There is nothing to complain about – plot – at least for first missions – is great, same as in HotS and WoL, graphics are superb, difficulty is high enough – playing on Brutal can really add some adrenaline to your veins :) Another thing I want to point – is awesome cinematics – both in-game and movie-like – just great, you can really feel like you are watching a movie, you can fill epicness of the moment. However, I want to explain why I didn’t put 10 in the review. The game is awesome, right, but majority of the features were taken from Wings of Liberty (HotS had the same problem too) – same system with few things remade. That’s why I didn’t put 10 mark here, and that’s why I say Wings of Liberty was better – that was really new game, and this is not.

The campaign is slightly worse than the previous ones, there are some new cool features like more hero-usage, but overall the campaign is much easier, til the point it's no challenging at all to beat in brutal and then the storyline is soooo bad in this one I have to say, however it's still good fun and the multiplayer is great, with faster games and new interesting units, can't rate it more than 8 because of the poor storyline ending though.

Ratings: Graphics: 4/10 Soundtrack 9/10 Not catchy , or worth listening while you work but nearly perfect mood music. Story 8/10 Game play 7/10 Overall feel 7/10 Review: The newest addition of the starcraft 2 universe continues the last major race storyline. The game consists of very similar level designs to the previous installment, and although more repeatative than heart of the storm, the flow and feel of the levels is more refined. For those expecting a graphical experience this is very dissapointing. Any moving object has hard to look at lines during all types of cutscenes no amount of heightened graphic settings can fix how low polygon the models are and how low resolution the textures are. Beautiful backdrops and loading pages but the quality of the custcenes really ruins the immersion. For a game that already had most of the assets including a fully functional engine I would expect them to put more effort into the elements that they still had to work on. The level design is slightly better and the story feels more immersive than Heart of the Swarm, but worse than the first installment. Seems Blizzard has started cutting corners in the past 2 years.
