Clever, fun, and full of heart. The closest comparison I can think of in tone are the Mother series, and the games of Yoshirou Kimura. The type of game that uses weirdness, humour and innocence to teach you something about how you approach games and maybe a little bit about yourself.

One of the most unforgettable games of 2015. Undertale shows that fun gameplay, good story and great design and replayability can be packed into a game that at first glance looks like a classic RPG. The gameplay is challenging yet fun, the music is jam worthy and timeless, and the characters are beautifully designed. The game makes you laugh when it wants to, makes you inspired and happy when it wants to, and makes you sob when it wants to. Depending on what ending you get the game gives you incentive and teases you towards another ending, which many choice-based games fail to do. The game will definitely feel different on different runs and there is so much to discover and explore. Overall, this is a game that won't be forgotten. Game developers should look to reproduce elements that this game show in order to create a timeless piece such as this.

A great game because of how it tackles how players play RPG's. Instead of being rewarded for killing all the monsters, you're faced with the consequences. It takes a look at how a person going around killing (or saving) everyone would really work out. And it's not the character that has to deal with all this. This game smashes through the fourth wall and goes to YOU (albeit horrifically), which is what makes it memorable. Did I mention the horror is done fantastically? Very entertaining.

The game has a deep atmosphere which can be either cheerful or very depressing depending the way you play. This game is perfect for people who want to have a choice on the environment they are placed in and want to feel like they can effect on. The game has an interesting battling mechanic that breathes fresh air towards the rpg game genre. The characters are very characterized by their traits and its interesting to see how they react to your actions once you commit them. The replay-ability of this one is overwhelming because the game tracks EVERY INDIVIDUAL PLAY THROUGH you make, characters will remember what you've done in earlier runs. If there's criticism to be with the game there's very little of it because overall this game is a near perfect title. Overall i recommend HIGHLY you get this game if your interested into rpgs because this one is worth your time.

An incredibly satisfying 10-hour romp through a world brimming with charm. The combat mechanic is clever and delivers curveball after curveball every time you think you've got the hang of it. The story (with its multiple endings) plays with your emotions the way a good Pixar film might; it's a testament to the creator's writing and creating prowess that the game delivers such a compelling experience in such a tiny package. My only complaint would be that the spritework is inconsistent, sometimes delivering beautiful moving sprites and backgrounds and sometimes only having cookie-cutter Gamemaker placeholders.
