Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade reviews ( 7 )

OrkishSteel, Dec 28, 2017

"Is it better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself?" Now it is January 2018 and i am playing this game since over 1 year. I can say now it is a very good game! :) The graphics are really fine, no lagging anymore, servers work, there is plenty of new content since release september '16 and it is 100% Warhammer 40,000 Universe! Best Hint: You can boost graphics of this game (and every unreal engine 4 game): Go AMD Radeon console, games, 3 clicks. Looks really better. And it is no overclocking. So "It IS better to die for the Emperor than live only for yourself..!" :O)

A very good game and a must for fans of Warhammer 40k (or just fans of Dawn of War RTS series). Its a solid shooter with very diverse classes and 4 factions to choose from. Is getting constant updates so the game will keep improving. I sugest trying it out.

One of the best representations of 40k in gaming since Space Marine. Great controls, amazing ranged to melee transitions , total 40k atmosphere in art direction, and maps that make for some of the best multi-player game play I've had in years.

Played for 500+ hours as I love 40k. Unfortunately, the game has major issues. 1. The dev team is extremely poorly operated. Each patch is 1 step forward, 2 back. They correct a few things, then destroy others. These errors are simply brushed aside for "next patch". Its very obviously Behavior has ZERO and I mean ZERO internal QA or testing, as major flaws in design go live....then the forums light up with disastrous results. 2. The servers are Amazon based, and are terrible. Delay in receiving damage means constant burst damage drops you in a heartbeat, often after you out of line of fire. Poor net code, poor design. 3. Balance is terrible. LSM are clearly the favorite faction of the devs, and receive constant upgrades and new items. Ranged damage is insanely OP, and melee is pretty much RIP in the game current state.. I could go on...but really there isn't any point. Ive spent over $200 customizing my guy, trying to like the game....but even the art takes months and months to be delivered, and its often poorly done. All in all, Behavior lied about what the game would be, their lead Nathan still calls is an MMO which just goes to show how sad and desperate he is in saving face, and the game just went F2p so its pretty much maintenance mode 6 month life cycle left.. The only reason anyone really plays it anymore is there are a lot of very loyal 40k fans. Its just too bad that once again, a trash company drags the 40k brand through the mud. Behavior really shouldn't be making software. This debacle proves that. Perhaps if it was another company, you could hope they have the talent and experience to fix the game, Not Behavior. Micky Mouse company that lacks pretty much everything, expect lying to their face base.

Unbalanced crappy bf clone full of pay to win elements. Avoid until you can get it for 5$ or less as you need to buy in-game currency to be able to play against people with full gear. Combat is buggy and game has huge lag issues. The couple of reviews that praise the game are from founders, they have full gear already and are chopping away noob's with k/d of 100+, of course they have fun as gods among mortals.

Features infographic changed day after launch, price increased almost 25% at launch to an eye watering £40 for a very very barebones lobby shooter with approx 5 maps. Masses of content not in for launch. Irritating persistent sound bugs, no regional servers, no mmo features, imbalanced melee/ranged combat, no fov settings, a consolised stickyback lockon for melee, none to some of the promised customisation depending on faction, rng lockbox system to get gear, extremely expensive pay items, It goes on and on. Give it a year and see if they fix/support it or hang in for a serious sale.

I love this game. I have been trying to get into 40k more with games like the DoW series and Space Marine, but this was the game that made me absolutely fall in love with the franchise. Absolutely stellar game mechanics and class system. I'll never stop playing this game!
